Pole Maintenance Preserves Assets...
Wooden utility poles are becoming increasingly more expensive to replace. Costly premature pole replacement will occur if maintenance is neglected. A Pole Inventory Cost/Benefit Analysis can take into consideration all the reasons for pole replacement (not just pole degradation) and indicates that cost savings in present worth dollars can exceed twice the cost of maintenance.
As wooden poles age, cracks or checks will develop, even in poles that have been commercially treated. Deep checks expose untreated internal wood to the elements, insects and fungus, which promotes rapid decay. Solid fumigant and/or fungicide rods inserted into holes drilled into poles will curb internal decay and insect infestation, thus vastly prolonging the service life of a wooden utility pole. Replugs® are designed to seal these holes. They can be removed and reused when the pole is recharged with fumigant and fungicide during subsequent maintenance cycles. |
